• vm_area structure has

  • vm_operations
  • inode, addresses etc.

• vm_operations

  • map, unmap
  • swapin, swapout
  • nopage -- read when page isn’t in VM

• mmap

  • calls on iii_readpage
  • keeps a use count on the inode until unmap
