Thanks. Primary include/coda.h needs to be fixedfor 64bit SPARCv9 support (UltraSPARC I,II,III,IV)... 1. It uses #if defined(sun) instead of #if defined(__sun) - this little detail took half a day to figure out that Sun's compiler turns "sun" off in favor of the "__sun" symbol in "strict ANSI/C mode"... ;-( 2. Various structures use unsigned long which are 32bit in 32bit sparcv7,sparcv8 environments but 64bit in sparcv9 environments. 64bit kernel modules can't (currently) communicate with 32bit venus/podfuk daemons unless we fix that in the include file (podfuk/venus compiled in 64bit mode should be able to communicate with 64bit kernel module directly without these changes below. But it would be much more usefull to allow 32bit venus/podfuk to communicate with 32bit and 64bit kernels...). I have attached by modfied versions of coda.h and coda_opstats.h; I fixed [1] and tried to fix [2] by replacing all datatypes {short, int, long, long long} with more or less "architecture independent" versions, e.g. short-->int16_t,int-->int32_t,long-->int32_t,long long-->int64_t. This seems to work for "podfuk" compiled with the new header communicating with coda 32bit SPARC kernel module compiled with the old version of coda.h. But there's still the question of int-->int32_t was the "right" choice (on SPARC, yet - but what about Intel x86 where int is (AFAIK) 16bit) ? Comments ? BTW: What about largefile support (e.g. files with >=2GB) ? ---- Bye, Roland -- __ . . __ (o.\ \/ /.o) Roland.Mainz_at_informatik.med.uni-giessen.de \__\/\/__/ gisburn_at_informatik.med.uni-giessen.de /O /==\ O\ MPEG specialist, C&&JAVA&&Sun&&Unix programmer (;O/ \/ \O;) TEL +49 641 99-13193 FAX +49 641 99-41359 /* You may distribute this file under either of the two licenses that follow at your discretion. */ /* BLURB lgpl Coda File System Release 5 Copyright (c) 1987-2000 Carnegie Mellon University Additional copyrights listed below This code is distributed "AS IS" without warranty of any kind under the terms of the GNU Library General Public Licence Version 2, as shown in the file LICENSE, or under the license shown below.
