Hi Codafiers, Apparenetly I need some help getting my coda client running. As you may recall, I am running redhat 4.2 with the 1.2.30 kernel, which gave me some trouble. So, following Peter's advice, I downloaded the src rpm and rebuilt it. Now my machine says it is running coda when I login to it. I tried mounting the test filesystem, but I could not figure out the magic incantation. I set up /usr/coda/etc/venus to contain this line /coda:/dev/cfs0:testserver.coda.cs.cmu.edu:/usr/coda/venus.cache:100:1 I did % /usr/sbin/venus And this is what my venus.log contains [ X(00) : 0000 : 00:10:37 ] Coda Venus, version 4.1 (27) [ X(00) : 0000 : 00:10:37 ] LOGFILE initialized with LogLevel = 0 at Thu Jul 10 00:10:37 1997 [ X(00) : 0000 : 00:10:37 ] ProfInit(): profiling is broken; fix it![ X(00) : 0000 : 00:10:37 ] minimum MLEs is 128 What am I doing wrong? What is an MLEs? Is the "profiling is broken; fix it!" message important. Can you give me advice as to how to get my coda client going? Maybe I didn't build it properly... -Bradley Date: Sun, 22 Jun 1997 15:29:47 -0400 (EDT) From: "Peter J. Braam" <braam_at_cs.cmu.edu> You must be running a kernel for which the module is not compatible (2.0.30 is known to behave like this). Simple solution: download the src rpm and rebuild it. If that is a problem let me know. I'd be happy to run 2.0.30 kernels myself if those are the most popular ones out there; then I could easily compile. What do you think? Clearly it's impossible to compile for every possible kernel, but I can try to be helpful. - Peter -Received on 1997-07-10 00:39:08
