Summary: Coda is not usable on newer SuSE and Redhat Systems, or (if it is) there is no documentation or other help available. My last test will be with Debian. I'm afraid that the "success" will be the same. Probably not, there have been a lot of reports of people having trouble setting up replicated servers. Maybe you are on to something here. If updatesrv is not running, updates in the /vice/db directory are not propagates and servers won't know about new volumes and users. I don't know why updatesrv seems to die after startup.
