There was a similar discussion in the WINE newsgroup a couple months back.
I didn't follow the argument very closely, but I believe they ended up
with a half-working temporary solution along with the promise of future
improvements coming from the windows softs themselves (because supposedly NT
5.0 has symlinks (under a different name, of course)).
