Hi,

You would need a 5.2.x server, there was an rpc2 protocol change with
the 5.3.x release. There are currently no 5.3.x clients for windows
available, more on that later on in this message.

The c:\usr\coda\etc\vstab file should have the ip address of the server,
the djgpp socket library doesn't have (a reliable?) gethostbyname
implementation. You can also use rpc2tcpdump (ftp.coda:/pub/tools/tcpdump/)
on the server or another machine on the same net to see where the win98
client is sending it's packets to. That program probably cannot be
compiled for windows.

There is currently one big problem with the windows port. It seems like
the wrong version of the wrong codadev.vxd was packaged and there is
confusion about whether mcstub needs to be loaded or not. In any case,
we have only been able to run the client successfully on a single
machine since last summer. All other installations have failed, and we
are in the process of figuring out what the differences are.

The result is that even if you use a 5.2.x server, the chances of
getting a BSOD at the first access in Coda is very high. Fixing this is
reasonably high list of things to do, but it will take some time.
