I asked this question after I realized (in Coda 5.2.x some time ago) that I could successfully authenticate on the SCM with clog after a cfs disconnect. I did not explore this further, and I have not yet had time to try this in 5.3.3. A way around this would be to run a little vice server on each client, and not have the clients in any VSGs apart from that of the root volume, so the server does not use up disk space. Would that have implications on security (clients are untrusted and can easily be stolen)? Also, isn't the number of servers limited to 8? Or would it be sufficient to just run auth2 and updatelnt on all clients?
