Greetings,

I find myself in the somewhat unenviable position of setting up Coda
for a bunch of Windows users here at my company.  None of them are at
all technical.  (If they were, they'd be using Linux like the rest of us.
;) )  Hence, I'd like to make logging on, starting venus, hoarding, and
shutting down venus as simple as possible for them.

I figure the easiest solution is to start the Coda login in a batch file,
stick the batch file in \Windows\Start Menu\Startup, and let users type
in their passwords into the resulting MS-DOS box when they start Windows.
The same script would run relay.exe, venus.exe, mount.exe, and cfs
reintegrate, as appropriate.  Ideally, I would have a similar batch
file executed at shutdown, which would cause a hoard walk, run cfs
disconnect, unmount the drive, and stop venus.  Er, I'm not sure whether
venus has to be running when the client is disconnected; if so, I'd need
furhter input from the user about whether the computer is connected. :(

However, I avoid Windows whenever possible, so I'm largely ignorant about
it.  I would like to know the following:

1. whether there is a way to make a program run at shutdown.
   I'm not sure about this one.  I need to 

2. if there is a way to run a program at shutdown, whether there is a way
   to kill a process from QBasic.
   I'm pretty sure this is impossible.  If so, users will have to stop
   venus using a ^C key combo, which will doubtless cause confusion. :P

3. how to hide a program so that it appears in the system tray but
   not in the taskbar.
   This clearly won't be practical if there's no way to do the task 
   described in item 2.  If there is indeed a way, then it would
   be nice to hide the venus window after login so users don't
   accidentally close it and hose their coda sessiosn.

Anyway, I don't expect you to be Windows experts, but I thought maybe
someone more knowledgeable who has set up Coda clients for 
less-than-clueful Windows users.  If you are that someone, please let us
know how you did it. ;)  Otherwise, I'll have to give our Windows users
a big tutorial on how to use Coda.
