Hi, I encounter the same warning message as Erik Terpstra, and venus (client) can't run properly with testserver.coda.cs.cmu.edu. However, the log is a little bit different. Here are the commands I typed and the logs (line begin with a "*" is the problematic line): --------------------------------------------------------------------- bash# venus-setup testserver.coda.cs.cmu.edu 40000 /etc/services already has new services registered! Good. bash# venus & [2] 908 bash# Date: Mon 06/12/2000 11:36:21 /usr/coda/LOG setup for size 0x108038 11:36:21 /usr/coda/DATA initialized at size 0x4200e0 11:36:22 brain-wiping recoverable store 11:36:22 loading recoverable store 11:36:22 starting VSGDB scan 11:36:23 0 vsg entries in table 11:36:23 0 vsg entries on free-list 11:36:23 starting VDB scan 11:36:23 1 vol entries in table (0 MLEs) 11:36:23 0 vol entries on free-list (0 MLEs) 11:36:24 starting FSDB scan (1666, 40000) (25, 75, 4) 11:36:24 0 cache files in table (0 blocks) 11:36:24 1666 cache files on free-list 11:36:24 starting HDB scan 11:36:24 0 hdb entries in table 11:36:24 0 hdb entries on free-list * 11:36:24 Kernel version ioctl failed (Inappropriate ioctl for device)! 11:36:25 Initial LRDB allocation 11:36:25 Getting Root Volume information... 11:36:26 Venus starting... ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Also, then I hit the enter key, venus is killed as the following line: [2]+ Killed venus I am using Slackware 7.0, with linux kernel 2.2.14. For coda part, I have downloaded the newest source code and compiled & installed everything... Anyone knows how to solve the problem?
