Hello Jan,

On Friday 18 May 2001 you wrote:

the used algorithms weren't designed for more than 10000 objects in
the client cache and scale poorly. It would be great to be able to have
more than 4000 files in a directory, but only relatively recently have we
gotten to the point that it is even possible to reliably write that many
files into /coda.

There is a lot of work left to do and perhaps we'll not even be able
to catch up with Moore's law.

It does not sound really good, given all the advantages of Coda.
I appreciate your final comment about not giving up!

It seems though that right now Coda is already usable for say home
systems but the limitations inhibit - already - its evential use in larger
environments.

As the ideas behind Coda have proven their workability, wouldn't it be the
right moment for doing a major rewrite? It is a huge task but in the long
run it may be the only feasible way.

Or am I wrong and incremental changes can overcome the limitations, if
just more resources would be available to the developers or more people
would participate in the project?

not volunteering for participation but concerned
