You're right, of course, I should upgrade my system. But this would mean to compile/install all devel (lwp, rpc2, rvm) packages on a system with not really that much free harddisk space. Furthermore, IMHO if there's an option for backward compatibility it should at least work. If I understand the state of the current kernel correctly, Linus tries to get the number of patches for the -test10 down in order to prepare a first 2.6.0 release, and if this is a real bug something should be done about it. And finally a word to "more fixes and changes": I have the impression, that with my usage behaviour the 5.3.x series is at least as stable as the newer versions. Both systems need a "venus -init" every few weeks. :-( Ciao Florian -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Get my DSA key from: www.netego.de/hpc?p=download&l=en iD8DBQE/rSLX+2lxodi1OoURAhnuAJ9iXiYsR19FQL3zeKRMUbQbC1k5QgCggD7i zE4DJph4kaAu1q6QMepM+6w= =xOq2 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----Received on 2003-11-08 12:10:43
