You're right, of course, I should upgrade my system. But this would mean
to compile/install all devel (lwp, rpc2, rvm) packages on a system with
not really that much free harddisk space.

Furthermore, IMHO if there's an option for backward compatibility it
should at least work. If I understand the state of the current kernel
correctly, Linus tries to get the number of patches for the -test10 down
in order to prepare a first 2.6.0 release, and if this is a real bug
something should be done about it.

And finally a word to "more fixes and changes": I have the impression,
that with my usage behaviour the 5.3.x series is at least as stable as
the newer versions. Both systems need a "venus -init" every few weeks.
