i've been seeing codasrv crash more and more often, especially as our site grows and users submit more content. codasrv always crashes with one of these: 16:39:17 Create returns 27 on 8269.JPG 1000002.dc72.950b this seems to happen because a directory has hit 256k in size, and someone tries to add just one more file. the only solutions so far have been to either clear out old content, or set up a hashed directory structure. however, it becomes difficult to predict which directories will hit the limit and when, and it becomes a shell game to try and shuffle around content before the next crash. ideally, our applications shouldn't have to know about the limitations of the underlying filesystem. it seems like it would be best if coda could simply handle larger directories (and fail gracefully), or handle directories of "infinite" size. -- steve simitzis : /sim' - i - jees/ pala : saturn5 productions www.steve.org : 415.282.9979 hath the daemon spawn no fire?Received on 2004-02-29 23:51:56
