Hello, it is no Coda version update yet, but the script which [un]installs the client has hopefully become more mature and robust. It supports Linux 2.6 and FreeBSD 5 on Intel x86 and MacOS X on ppc. Kernel support is present in the first two OS by default, for MacOS X you have to compile your own kernel module. The client will work as well on Linux 2.4, if you compile a suitable (i.e. "new") kernel module. Note that it should work well independently of the OS distribution you are using. It does not interact with any packaging system, nor uses any software resources except for a few standard Posix utils like ls, cat, sed. Now you can choose the directory where you want to expose the Coda-related binaries, being it /bin (default), /sbin, /usr/local/bin or anything else. It cleans up nicely if you decide to uninstall. Please test and report whether it works for you. I am heading for the next release with recent Coda, and it is vital to sort out any issues with the script itself, at first. As usual, fetch it at http://www.konvalo.org/pub/coda-client-setup and run with Bourne shell, without arguments for immediate installation or with --help to see the options.
