It does look better, but it doesn't work as well. Here is a short list
of problems I still have with the server-parsed html,

- It doesn't work on the website mirror, which rsyncs the static html
  pages, but maybe that is a good thing.
- The server-side parsed pages are not cacheable by clients or proxies.

I just figured out how to fix the redirect problem. Apache handled the
redirect internally. By using an absolute URL the redirection goes all
the way  back to the client and it works correctly.
