Hello Jan, rvmsizer is really a nice utility. Thanks Michael! > $ rvmsizer ~/coda-HEAD ~/coda-HEAD-obj > 148 directories, 1945 files, 165 directory pages > total file size 110606512 bytes (105.48MB) > average file size 56867 bytes > total directory size 1220608 bytes (1.16MB) > average directory size 8247 bytes > estimated RVM usage based on object counts, 739024 bytes (0.70MB) > estimated RVM usage based on 4% rule, 4473084 bytes (4.27MB) > > So it takes less than a megabyte of RVM to store a Coda source and > object tree. The "total directory size" is for some reason remarkably bigger than the (total!) calculated RVM usage. As it is just what stat() says about the directory sizes, it does not have much to do with the internal representation, but still a bit strange. As a "Coda usage report", the numbers for some data (software) present on Coda here: -------------------- $ rvmsizer sw 13213 directories, 108686 files, 15039 directory pages total file size 3949049214 bytes (3766.11MB) average file size 36334 bytes total directory size 60239872 bytes (57.45MB) average directory size 4559 bytes estimated RVM usage based on object counts, 58294644 bytes (55.59MB) estimated RVM usage based on 4% rule, 160371563 bytes (152.94MB) -------------------- Looks like my 768Mb RVM server can serve about 50G software, despite a lot of small wrappers and forests of symlinks. Good. See you, -- IvanReceived on 2003-12-19 09:55:11
