Are these harmless errors? or will the backup not succeed? | | | It depends on the errors. When I run amcheck it doesn't complain. I get "ERROR [Volume check for coda.root failed]" after running amcheck. In /tmp/amanda, I have some .debug files that show a little of what's going on. When amanda gets to the coda filesystems to backup, the following occurs in the logs: sendsize.20040224221503.debug (all other non-coda volume info removed) - ----------------------------- sendsize[2322]: time 524.678: waiting for any estimate child sendsize[2356]: time 524.678: calculating for amname 'coda.root', dirname 'coda.root', spindle -1 sendsize[2356]: time 524.678: running cmd: calcsize.coda calcsize.coda CODA coda.root coda.root 0 0 sendsize[2356]: time 524.678: waiting for (null) "coda.root" child sendsize[2356]: time 525.390: after (null) "coda.root" wait sendsize[2356]: time 525.390: done with amname 'coda.root', dirname 'coda.root', spindle -1 sendsize[2322]: time 525.391: child 2356 terminated normally sendsize[2322]: time 525.391: waiting for any estimate child sendsize[2362]: time 525.391: calculating for amname 'internal.private', dirname 'internal.private', spindle -1 sendsize[2362]: time 525.391: running cmd: calcsize.coda calcsize.coda CODA internal.private internal.private 0 0 sendsize[2362]: time 525.392: waiting for (null) "internal.private" child sendsize[2362]: time 525.497: after (null) "internal.private" wait sendsize[2362]: time 525.498: done with amname 'internal.private', dirname 'internal.private', spindle -1 sendsize[2322]: time 525.498: child 2362 terminated normally sendsize: time 525.498: pid 2322 finish time Tue Feb 24 22:23:48 2004 I suppose amanda might be complaining since it does not appear to be receiving any size information estimates for the coda volumes? Also, our fileserver/coda server is doing the backups. Is this part of the problem? I know I had to "trick" the original backup system to make backups work on the same server that was also the coda server (fortunately I had different partitions to which I could backup). I have updated amanda to the latest CVS changes and will try again with that version (the version you said you updated CVS to, I think 2.4.4p2? ~ It seems to be building .deb packages as 2.4.4-3. Is that correct?). Thanks. - -- Jason A. Pattie pattieja_at_xperienceinc.com Xperience, Inc.
